Turistas +2
There is a tension from the start; we know what will happen very early in the movie, then the tension builds for an hour exactly before the operating lights come on.
Turistas is one of those movies that change the way you think about something. I had wanted to visit Brazil, but now not so much. Well I would still like to see the country and meet the people but have no intention of having my organs harvested.
Some great phrases in this movie: “In any situation, the best thing to do is the right thing. The next best thing you can do is the wrong thing. But the worst you can do is nothing; if life gives you opportunity, do something.” Of course after this he kills a man with a twig. Others like “everyone knows you were robbed” and “there are no police here” reinforce the not wanting to go to the rainforest.
If I get anything from this movie it’s to trust no one.
Is it a “good” movie? No not really, but there are people who are doing this for real, organs are being harvested and until now I never really thought about it.
Perhaps the best advice in this move is “take the plane” not the buss. 2 out of 5 stars.
